Juxtaposition and precious stones April 17 2011, 0 Comments
This is one of my new favorites, that is sure to become a classic! It’s part of my raw collection, which I really identify with. This is a large green included amethyst cabochon, set in an 18kt yellow gold bezel. Under the stone I’ve engraved a symbol... I LOVE the faintness of the engraving, how you have to really look to find it. It’s like a hidden little secret under a gorgeous sparkling natural stone. At first glance the necklace is beautiful, but then when you study it for a minute you find this hidden treasure in the engraving! I enjoy the irony of having something “hidden” in the collection called “Raw”.
Juxtaposition and precious stones - beauty and meaning - what more could a girl ask for!

Jewelry Designer Catherine Angiel Interview with the Knot June 25 2010, 0 Comments
Q&A With Gothic Jewelry Designer, Catherine Angiel
When it comes to wedding jewelry, one radical designer taps into this exquisite contradiction embodied in her edgy, inspired pieces. Meet Catherine Angiel: drummer, gardener, and artist whose
avant- garde jewelry just might dictate the future of gothic wedding style.
Gothic.Weddings.com: Music and art have greatly influenced the gothic community. How have the two influenced you personally and artistically?
Catherine Angiel: I felt I was born to be a drummer. I was banging on pots and pans at four. By the time I was 15, my band was opening for Blondie and I was playing the club circuit.
To me, everything is a creation, and music, art, and jewelry design are all different outlets. My inspiration is romance -- I'm a hopeless romantic -- and its ups and downs. When you fall in love, it's like this burst. You can't wait to express it.
When I'm designing, I'm designing from the heart. I want my jewelry to appeal to everyone. I like designing for people like you and me, who want something sexy and sophisticated that suits their personal style. I want people to be able to wear my jewelry every day.
Check out Catherine Angiel's online jewelry gallery or visit her rock n' roll nightclub-themed shop, located at 43 Greenwich Ave., NYC.

The Black Diamond Angiel June 12 2010, 0 Comments
Catherine Angiel, who truly put Black Diamonds on the map, was featured in Life & Style this past week because of the inspiration from the 5ct Black Diamond Big gives Carrie at the end of SATC2.
Black Diamonds are being more and more recognized. When is the last time that you saw somebody wearing a black diamond ring? It's truly a unique stone and gives more character to today's already impeccable designs.
However, Ms. Anigel has been using Black Diamonds in her designs for years; I'm happy to see that the rest of the fashion world is finally catching up!
Black diamond gets play in 'Sex and the City 2' - National Jeweler
New York--Spoiler alert! Sex and the City fans will remember that at the end of the 2008 film, Carrie Bradshaw got engaged with a diamond-encrusted shoe rather than a diamond-encrusted ring. While it seemed a fitting engagement for the die-hard fashionista, fans who might have been gunning to see Carrie get a ring will finally get their wish.
Back for another round in Sex and the City 2, which opened at the No. 2 spot at the box office this weekend, Carrie and her trio of best friends, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte, sport jewelry throughout, but the piece that's getting fans talking is a 5-carat diamond ring from designer Itay Malkin.
The hefty carat weight makes for a talking point of its own, but the real buzz factor is the diamond's hue. For fearless fashionista Carrie--who was ready to get married in the first film wearing a bright blue feather on her head--a crystal clear diamond ring just wouldn't do.
In the final scene, Carrie's longtime love, Big, presents her with a black diamond ring, explaining "because you are not like anyone else."
