Q&A With Gothic Jewelry Designer, Catherine Angiel
When it comes to wedding jewelry, one radical designer taps into this exquisite contradiction embodied in her edgy, inspired pieces. Meet Catherine Angiel: drummer, gardener, and artist whose
avant- garde jewelry just might dictate the future of gothic wedding style.
Gothic.Weddings.com: Music and art have greatly influenced the gothic community. How have the two influenced you personally and artistically?
Catherine Angiel: I felt I was born to be a drummer. I was banging on pots and pans at four. By the time I was 15, my band was opening for Blondie and I was playing the club circuit.
To me, everything is a creation, and music, art, and jewelry design are all different outlets. My inspiration is romance -- I'm a hopeless romantic -- and its ups and downs. When you fall in love, it's like this burst. You can't wait to express it.
When I'm designing, I'm designing from the heart. I want my jewelry to appeal to everyone. I like designing for people like you and me, who want something sexy and sophisticated that suits their personal style. I want people to be able to wear my jewelry every day.
